A Christmas Bauble

entry picture

As snow came down

her wondrous eyes

flared as bright

as winter skies

She imagined they fell

from Santa's sleigh

And that he might

pop down & say:

What a good girl

you've been this year

You may get more

than an apple & pear!

And through a window

frosted lightly,

she saw a snowman

fat, but sprightly!

He danced & raised

his battered cap

with a little jig

and a bit of tap!

Though, the tapping was lost

to snowy feet,

he busted some moves

to a Christmas beat

She jiggled with him

in her chair

as festive carols

filled the air

A nurse joined in

and jiggled with her

It's time, she said

for Christmas dinner !

And as they wheeled her

past the tree,

that twinkled & glistened

so beautifully

A bauble was held

within her hand

that Santa had made

in a faraway land

Her Mam & Dad

had asked him to,

when she was born,

back in '42

Our daughter's

1st

Christmas

x

Is all it said

But such a love she felt

When these words were read

So, she placed it gently

upon the tree

"There hangs my heart

For all to see."

And, after a moment

of reminisce

She blew it a little

Christmas kiss

"Come on," says a nurse.

"Let's get some dinner."

"May as well," says Doris.

"Am gettin' ne thinner!"
