Vultures Fly
Vultures fly in perfect circles
and pretend we believe
they are white doves
bringing us peace
Foul-smelling scavengers
disguised as prominent politicians;
illiterate statesmen or authentic literati,
that never attended a single seminar
or even stepped in a University
but surely received and will show with much glee
their hard earned honorary doctorate degree
Little by little,
they arrive in flocks
filling themselves to satiety,
while pecking away
the best of society
Their nature makes them believe
they have impunity since no one says a word
as they’re flying round and round;
all accustomed to seeing them hovering around
letting them quietly feast with everything stolen
and with much finesse all they have snatched
They steal more than they need,
it could fill the coffers of a nation;
it's not just money, they also take morale,
the future and hope, the food of the poor
and the children's education
Although it may seem normal,
there is no basis of today's man's reasoning
who is narrowing his conscience
in a world that widens helplessness and misery
while vultures continue their plundering corruption
Imagine for a moment
if we had the courage to defend
the virtues that should reign,
the iniquitous vultures
would no longer have a sky to fly
nor a shelter where to hide

Noris,
I thank you for such an honest poem which stems very much from the final paragraph of your biography. The analogy between vultures and politicians is particularly evident into today's world. The poem has a clear message, well crafted and one of the best I have read for some time.
Thank you
Keith
