When Hope Calls

Tremors massive shock waves

Buildings topple colossal scale

Tissue paper concrete collapses

Thousands upon thousands lost

Rubble mountains sealed tombs

Skin torn hands dig

Dramatic rescue frantic disbelief

Silence waits in hesitation

Faint cries of help

Trapped bodies pulled clear

New-born child feared dead

Life saved tears shed

Family crushed to death

Laid side by side

Weeping uncontrollably shaking emotions

Human carriers grief stricken

Praying to God above

Asking Why oh Why

Hope had not saved

Their precious loved ones

When others had survived

Miracles have no answers.

Finding the right words can prove difficult when this happens.

Thanks Helene
Everyone who watches yet another victim saved sometimes after hours buried in darkness feels the relief when they appear.

Thanks Stephen G
I wanted to show how this World disaster has in itself brings terrible conflict in how unfair we look at life itself and who people blame when there is great suffering.

Strong powerful poem. Felt the emotions in every line. Thank you for a poem that carries us into the hearts of the suffering from this catastrophe.
