Stockport - September
flowers on the lawn
they came
placed flowers on the lawn
on the small patch of grass
at the front of her house
she always had flowers
everywhere
so they placed the flowers on the lawn
just as I’d asked them to
dead flowers
because they’d been cut
arranged in different ways
bouquets shapes letters
dead flowers on the lawn
around the neat cut lawn
were bergonias bizzy lizzies
a red rose with a bee on it
a hydrangea with sea blue pom pom flowers
neighbours brought more flowers
laid them on the lawn
an island of vibrant dead flowers
circled by
bergonias bizzy lizzies
a red rose
a hydrangea with sea blue pom pom flowers
and bees
the flowers around the lawn were alive
as she’d left them
moving with the breeze
bending with the bees
live flowers that she left
circling the heavy dead
that lay thick on the lawn
