Sunny.

Did you know

That the moon paints the sky black at night,

Just so that she will shine brighter?

The stars are actually just remnants

Of paint spatters.

The moon has a sister

Called sunny.

And she’s a painter too!

Sunny’s favourite colour is blue

But she likes to paint in many different  hues.

If the moon is low key;

Sunny is high

She much prefers a brighter sky.

Just like the moon

Sunny is a messy painter.

Her spatters get everywhere!

Next time you go out walking

Take a look -

You will know where

She has been!

She is in the rose garden

Where the flowers make their beds.

She likes to lay them down

On a Canvas full of greens.

She sprays the blossoms

On spring trees

And she gives us leaves!

You’ll find traces of sunny

Almost everywhere she goes.

She really does paint

The most incredible scenes.

When sunny gets tired

She knows her day is done.

She gently slips into the sea

While the moon rises in her place;

To help us drift

Into our dreams

The moral of this story is,

There is a space for everyone.

Introvert or extrovert

We each have our part to play.

Perhaps you are a night bird

Perhaps you prefer the day

Maybe you are not a painter

You might be better off with clay.

It really doesn’t matter,

It’s ok to just be you!

So next time you’re in doubt

You can look into the sky

And ask yourself -

Without the sun

Without the moon

Whatever would we do!

I can only echo John's words, Clare. A real pleasure, this one.

Delightful poem, Clare. Whimsical and lyrical, but with a sprinkling of your wisdom, too! 😀
