Sinister Psychologist...

Let me peek into your mind

I wonder what delights I'll find?

All manner of things, both sweet & sour

Such tasty morsels to devour!

Love & Grief in all their sorrow

I'll gobble 'em down, like there's no tomorrow!

Your secrets, kept so close to chest

I'll hang to cure 'till at their best!

I cross my heart, I'll never tell

Even at the toll of your death knell!

I'll drain 'em dry 'till nothing's left

So as not to upset those left bereft!

So,  come release your darkest thoughts

And its array of salacious cohorts

I'll fix you up all good 'n' proper

Make sure your mind don't come a cropper!

And then I'll write a best selling book

With your inner demons being its hook!

Well described Stephen, and thanks for highlighting a very important subject.

I think your line: "And then I'll write a best selling book", sums up much of what's happenning today.
Call me cynical but...the philosophy of "follow the money" is increasingly responsible for the pathologisation of commonplace and perfectly "normal" aspects of human psychology and of biology.

Thank you Keith (best keep your 'findings' in your mind, eh? 😄)
Manish, much appreciated. Stephen, probably a good idea!
& Jed, you're probably right!
And thanks for the like Leon! 🌈

I've had trouble with awful psychiatrists....lead me to think that psychiatrists are merely doctors who want to stay in college longer get paid more and be less useful to society as regular doctors.

Nice one, Stephen. I think I'll stick with my GP.

Like the title suggests, this indeed feels like a sinister psychologist trying to get hold of your darkest thoughts, secrets, love, grief, etc.
Very well written Stephen!

A great and humorous poem, as I can envisage you on the couch about to have your mind probed. If I were similarly analysed I'm sure the findings would find their way to the News of the World or some sordid publication. Thanks for this,
Keith
