The most powerful word

I have learned

is silence.

Prone to verbosity,

the space between the speaking

allows for breath

to quiet the differences,

the conflicts, the uncertainties.

We like things in boxes, 

don't we?

neat with lids closed,

resolved.

Ah, but life jumps up and says,

no, there are alot of layers here,

complexities and misunderstandings and mysteries--

so, the most peaceful path 

I love to walk is silence.

And silence brings words of kindness, compassion and understanding,

a hardy conversation indeed.
