Glued
Glued
They can be found in any number of places,
from buses, trains, planes and even at the races.
Most find it more convenient to find a seat,
but as with most people they can be on their feet.
They all have one thing in common to play,
a screen, a mobile or a tablet to pass the day.
Engrossed if not transfixed they do earnestly stare,
almost as if into the vacuous thin air.
The world passes by quite unnoticed as they are glued,
to the avoidance of others which is really quite rude.
I peered over the shoulder of one young man to see,
and found a scene of two monsters in a conflict of jeopardy.
Both fought each other with flourescent light bulbs,
beside a frothing lake which gave off bubbles.
I was in a bus on a scenic route of utter beauty,
but my fellow passengers were watching Sweep and Sooty.
As I gazed outside I saw pine forests and meadows,
in complete contrast to those passengers who were in their shadows.
In a supermarket I did observe a lady with a trolley and baby inside,
as she careered along the aisle she was on her mobile time.
Sheryl had given birth to a baby boy at home,
Oblivious to other shoppers she collided with an old lady,
the trolley keeled over and she nearly lost her baby.
Poor souls, they are caught up in a world of fantasy,
that they increase their chances of a terrible catastrophe.
For them the world is on a screen to be viewed secretly,
as the world outside has become alien and seen very differently.
Their world is inhabited by strange images and sounds,
whilst we outside enjoy a world which abounds.
