It's Your Shift
The Sun was getting tired
Spent all day keeping all warm
She through on last ray
Hit me right in the eye she did
“Your shift”, she said.
Pulled me from behind the cloud, she did
So I shouted at the Herald to wake up the stars
Drag in the darkest blanket
Me! Sun had been lazy; so I had to push day out.
Got me right flushed it did; my face went all creamy.
“Oi! you “ I shouted at a kid in the street,
“get off home your mums cooking your tea,
And stop pointing at me like that, its rude”.
I got back an Herald had done a great job
All the stars were where they should be,
And he’d put out the best dark blanket; tucked it in too.
I said, “Son, your Dad would have been very proud of your
Work tonight. Have the rest of the night off and here
Is an extra £10 bonus for you and your girlfriend, ‘Dawn’.
Go take her to that new multiplex on ‘
Don’t forget to dusk of your best jacket”
Before I could say ‘boo’ to a bat; they were gone;
Left me MOOOOONING the whole world.
Cheek!

Interesting poem. I could picture the moon watching the sun stretch and yawn across the sky, casting its sunset colors over the horizon, and then night falls. And it's the moon's shift to shine and light up the sky. :)
