Emerald Lake

Once in my younger years

With brother and cousin

Set out to camp along a lake

Upon a mountain top in a cliffy revine

Arriving by foot

We set camp

My cousin experimenting with Maryjane infused products

Poured an once of bud into browny mix

We proceeded to stuff our face

With Chocolate fulled mouths and weed stuck between the teeth

We watched the cliff sides become alive

The valley

Owned by the native American spirits whose image remains unbroken over looking the revine

Their faces so prevently shaped by the the earth left us in awe in our communion

Later in my life

 Carrying great responsibility

I returned to the site with my 11year old daughter

We sat on a bolder protruding from the lake

Gazing upon the same cliffside

The native spirits were hidden from my site

I asked my daughter if she could see faces in the rocks

She began to point out several native faces

Some in great headdress

The pure heart of my child could see beyond my clouded reason

She rejuvenated my child within

And gave me hope that one day when my job is done that I will see as a child  once again

Thank you for reminding us about those amazing and very spiritual people who are always depicted on tv and the big screen as the bad guys-for my money its the bad guys who do the depicting

and what sufferings those poor people were put through is beyond belief!
