Drape Your Skin. Repost for an anniversary.
Drape your skin over my bones~
Feel as my limbs turn to stone
Weight my feet to slow them down ~
So that you may follow me.
Stitch your shady shadow over mine
Weave yourself ~ an invisible thread ~ throughout my beautiful tapestry
Unpick my silks and golden yarns
Replace them with your nylon strings;
A feeble attempt to clip my fledgling wings
Tattoo your name into my mind
Watch as the delicate petals fall ~ silently
From my eyes
Make me believe the world is blind
Tell me I will never fly
And I… I will ask you why?
Scrawl yourself into all my chapters
Stain my pages with your indelible ink
Spew your poisoned, spineless words.
Your prose holds no rhythm
Your poetry no rhyme
No purpose has been served ~
It seems you wasted your own precious time.
Tip rancid oils over my water
Erase my delicate pastel hues
With your dark, shady greys
And your murky mix of blues
I will make a sable brush
To paint right over you.
