What’s in a name?

Carly Simon sang about vanity

Doris played Calamity

Alice Cooper came on the scene

Make up black, blue and green

Like a male witch he sang and roused

The kids to believe that school was out

No more this and no more that

He had them believe it and that was a fact

Rebellion resulted in the USA and

Pink Floyd were all over the place

There goes another brick in the wall

Their song with Alice's said it all

Music to the ears of any child

especially those who liked running wild

So what's in a name?

Then of course was Tiny Tim

with long black hair, beard, tall and slim.

A man who sang his songs in falsetto

And related to those in the musical ghetto

But what's in a name?

Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdinck

Lulu, Dusty Springfield, and the kitchen sink

The Beatles were really the bosses,

but even they had to cut their losses,

when announcing for the final time,

“we've split, it’s the end of the line”

But what's in a name?

Mr Micawber and Oliver Twist

Samuel Pepys, Brahms and Liszt

Martin Luther and George W Bush

We always seem to be in a rush

To study the profile of people of fame

But who gives a monkeys

and what's in a name?

What's in a name?
I'm very much not into celebrity, having my youth with the Beatles, teenage rock and Punk I know what I like and that's enough, some artists make great recordings and then real stinkers, as I don't follow artists just the tunes I fast forward the stinkers.
A good read thank you

An entertaining musical "hop" that brings some memories. I
can see the early Tiny Tim, slightly pot bellied, smooth of face
and clutching a ukelele! I was never into Heavy Metal or the
Punk era (ugh...that spitting!), but take my consolation from
being around as a teenager when Rockn'Roll was at its peak
and each week the Hit Parade seemed endlessly full of good songs across musical genres, whether it be from groups like The Coasters or solo singers like Brenda Lee, Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis belting out their hits. Whole Lot Of Shakin' Going On indeed!!😎
