The Bibby Stockholm

Refugees on barges
Jeering little Farages
When Britannia ruled the waves
James Bibby was transporting slaves
Meanwhile humanitarians
Are Nick Ferrari’s enemy

Refugees on prison ships
Suella’s bag of cruel tricks
Singing Rule Britannia
Let’s make you all unhappier
Somewhere there’s a statue
That needs chucking in the sea

I'm thinking of the advice from Paul Hogan to hopefuls at The Oscars: Be graceful; be grateful. Get off.
How about adapting those words to the "illegals" paying for
criminally enabled passage from a safe land to the UK..
Be graceful; be grateful - or get going.
Oooh...how inhumane, do I hear you say? 😋

MC,
A or B...?
It really is that simple.

Certainly, the aspect of the safety of any residents has to be
taken into account and that should be a primary governmental responsibility, with associated attention from local authority
supervision over what is placed within their jurisdiction for human
habitation.

If there are statutory H&S regulations then clearly these must be adhered to. So if guests are being moved into the facility in breach of regulations I would expect the H&S Executive to be taking some action. Are they?

Racism Uilliam...do you mean racism between guests of different races? What can the authorities do about it other to react if there is a formal complaint?

MC, you ask “What is the big problem with the facilities on offer for these incomers?”

One problem is safety; remember Grenfell? the other is racism, both related.

Who’s advice would you rather take?
A. That of your average bitter sodden pub racist boor, who read something in a 30p rag?

B. Or that which is imbued with the technological and psychological (ie. knowledge of crowd behaviour etc.) expertise of professionals gleaned over almost 120 years; which is that of the Fire Brigades Union?

Anyone ever stayed in a YHA youth hostel, which until a few years ago were very basic, some even primitive.

""self-appointed garrulous "guardians".""

"I am the people's champion" Farage to a tee!😄

When i was a young man I spent my life in accommodation provided by government that, looking back, appears far less
comprehensive (see "basic" for the gist of my meaning!) than
that provided on this Dorset hostel put in place for migrants.
Our armed forces are housed in accommodation very similar to that recalled by me from half a century ago. I was grateful for
what was there and had no problem with any of it. So what is the big problem with the facilities on offer for these incomers?
Sounds like a storm in a tea-cup to me, brewed up by
career-whingers who are their self-appointed garrulous "guardians".

Well done, Steve. A fine poem which shows up the indecency of the UK Government's latest gimmick.

And there's this Steve.

Who is Nigel Farage?

Thank you Uilleam for your comments, which are spot on, and thanks for the evidence that you provided at 18:17.

MC, if you think that Nigel Farage is simply "drawing attention to what is being allowed to happen" maybe I can draw your attention to some of the things that he has said or supported, collected here: https://hopenothate.org.uk/chapter/who-is-nigel-farage/

UOC - your point noted. I have amended my comment but the
general unease about how the "for and against" is being
experienced remains and has been offered no solutions that
seem to ensure positivity in ensuring the absence of threat via
disease, terrorism or other very feasible possibliity in a global world with its 24/7 MSM busy making sure we are kept aware!

MC you state "The term "refugee" is hardly appropriate",

May I respectfully suggest that you read up on the law relating to refugees and asylum seeking.

Criticisms are justfied about the political failures to deal with this
situation at its root. The cockney slang "no bottle" comes to mind. Using common sense, "refugee" is hardly appropriate when referring
to movement from safe country to safe country and is arguably
applied to suit an emotive response to a perceived "need" that is aiding and abetting a criminal enterprise that is succesfully
obtaining substantial sums from certain parties in the process.
The ongoing denigration of Farage who has done no more than
draw attention to what is being allowed to happen does not
achieve anything in the interest of the security and social stability of England.

Corrected comment.

"Jeering little Farages" That's what its all about Steve.

In the year ending March 2022, 75% of asylum seekers’ claims for protection were deemed to be valid.

Article of 26th May 2022. https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/press/share-of-successful-asylum-claims-reach-a-30-year-high-new-home-office-data-reveal/

It’s obvious therefore, that the only commonsense and compassionate solution is to process claims faster so that refugees can gain legal employment and help our economy and public services.

But that’s precisely what the Tories do not want,

They are now so discredited in every aspect of government, that they are desperately using the term "illegal immigrant"...(which the UK government's own evidence proves 75% of them are NOT)....as a means of dog-whistling to the likes of 30p Lee of “eff off back to France” fame.

A good poem Steve.

I'm not for or against personally, though accomodation must be found and there are objections to hotels, camps etc. Do you have a solution Steve other than 'process asylum claims quicker'.
