Hypertension's whispers, silent, yet profound.

entry picture

With each beat, a symphony, a life's refrain,
Blood pressure's measure, a song we must sustain,
For in these numbers, a story lies concealed,
A tale of health, it's not to be concealed.

Know thy pressure, the ebb and flow within,
A guardian of life, where health doth begin,
With cuff and monitor, a humble guide,
We glimpse the secrets that within us hide.

Too high, a warning of a turbulent tide,
A storm that threatens, if we let it slide,
Hypertension's whispers, silent, yet profound,
A steady hand we need, to keep our health unbound.

Too low, a whisper, a quiet undertow,
Leaving us weary, with energies laid low,
Orthostatic shifts, a dizzying array,
A monitor's insight guides us on our way.

For in these numbers, a map of life we chart,
A wellness compass, a treasure to impart,
With knowledge gained, we take control anew,
Blood pressure's story, a vital cue.

So heed the call to know, to measure well,
With diligence and care, our stories to foretell,
A monitor in hand, a friend that we confide,
In knowing blood pressure, we journey far and wide

I run a regular difference of opinion about blood pressure with
my health nurse. Medicos love to lump us all in the same
bracket - generalisation is their watchword. Whereas I hold
to our right to have individual existences whereby our bodies
settle for what suits them. I've asked (without getting any reassuring reply) if a 9 stone marathon runner might expect
to have the same BP as a thirty stone weightlifter? We can
accept what nature gives us - suitably cared for by a sensible
carefully considered diet (the fuel that powers and lubricates
our systems) and a bit of moderate exercise to help the parts
keep moving! There's more risk from stress than anything
else in this life - and lot of that is self-inflicted.
P.S. Olive oil - a daily tablespoon on empty stomach is a positive step towards easing the flow of blood around the many byways that support the bodyworks!
