Confluence Time

Welcome to Manchester;

To the Tóraidhe Party Confluence;

to the land in which

the pursuit of greater affluence on behalf of

the already obscenely affluent

results in vast quantities of verbal and physical effluent;

which will of course be removed

by United Futilities

who’ll dump it

on our land and in our streams;

a “service” paid for

by those who have next to nothing;

yet which makes offshore billions

for the few; not the many.

Wecome to that festering swamp

where rivers of blood

meet rivers of shit,

metaphorically and littorally.

Welcome to broken Britain,

a country lying

obediently,

flat on its back

in Tóraidhe shit.

Thanks MC.
The north desperately needs an efficient easy to use cross-pennine link IF we are genuine in our efforts to get people out of their cars.

I like the way you structure your anger and disdain into a rhythmic poem, Uilleam. Your audio reading is excellent. The effluent of the affluent - a good theme.

The worst part is that there seem to be no one in the present
Parliament who shows any sign of being any better. I've never
minded the well-to-do having their money; it's when they
are frivolous with other people's cash that I take offence. The
recent lot in government have been guilty when vanity (save a
few minutes travelling time) projects like the London end of HSR2 have absorbed billions and desecrated the countryside
to add insult to injury. Why weren't the northern links given
priority for a start?
