Thoughts of a soldier at war
"Life can be pure bliss when all goes well ,
But for me in the midst of a war, life is hell.
Disaster into my life has crept,
Confronted,I dropped onto my knees and wept.
Shock,confusion,anxiety,nightmares and strife.
Disheartened with little motivation to proceed with my life.
Life is a disaster I have become a hopeless fretter.
With the war and mass killings, can things ever get better?
Confronting my thoughts is very painful,I must reveal,
The pain is almost unbearable, but allows the wound to heal.
The void in my heart will never disappear,
But life is still worth living ,as the joys of the future reappear."

It seems inescapable that war is a part of the human condition.
It was US Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman who
observed that "War is all hell" - adding that it was just as well otherwise we (humanity?) might get to love it too much.
