Love he, who has wronged me
Many threads coalesce to become this life's tangled weave,
Though reason and mercy, are rarely given or received.
Yet to forgive and forget, one another's wrongdoing,
Displays compassion of spirit, empathic reviewing.
Patience and tenacity, we view meritorious
Bullying of others is considered inglorious.
We subjugate wrongdoers rightly to the rule of law,
Without first understanding the cause, it’s a tragic flaw.
Understanding transgression may include excusing wrong,
Demonstrating love in fullness, showing where love belongs.
Neighbourhood strife, whether international or local,
Endless conflict by rage is morally equivocal.

I am a believer in "righteous retribution", nowadays so readily
seized upon as "revenge" by those seeking absolution. The
law remains our best refuge but even that can be wrong-footed
for various reasons. We must be careful just what we decide
when confronting wrong-doing that can reach a level that
defines the word "evil" (which itself is an anagram of "vile").
