Put Up Shut Up Britain Part Three
Banning tents
Grabbing arses
The fancies
Of the ruling classes
Who laugh
At Gaza’s epitaph
While the NF march
Past the Cenotaph
Show some respect
Dissent’s forbidden
Welcome
To Put Up Shut Up Britain
Banning tents
Grabbing arses

At Gaza’s epitaph
While the NF march
Past the Cenotaph

Well said, Keith. Thank you.
I have nothing but the highest regard and respect for Armistice Day and in particular the main event in Whitehall on the nearest Sunday to the 11th of November. As an ex serviceman of 10 years service and holder of the Distinguished Service Medal I would be there if I could to remember fallen comrades. However, in Gaza 4,104 children have been slaughtered with an overall death toll modestly estimated at well over 10,000 along with more than 25,000 injured. A cease fire is essential. Hamas will survive this conflict no matter what Israel does until the crux of the matter is solved through a just process. I am confident that the march on Saturday would have the support of many of our war dead if they knew that children were being massacred. They fought for freedom and against injustice and persecution. Don't let anyone tell me that 4,104 children are collateral damage. This is systematic ethnic cleansing.
The march starts
Two miles past
The Cenotaph
And ends up even further away
Still it doesn't show sufficient respect
Someone better tell the FA
That football really shouldn't be allowed
And the shops shouldn't take a single shopper's pound
And pubs, well that ain't quite a head-bowed crowd
After all, it is Armistice Day
When two minutes of your time simply ain't enough
Wanna show respect? You better get tough
And make a long list of things that people shouldn't do
Not just the ones that don't resonate with you
Otherwise your argument's a bit of a mess
Football? Yes
Shopping? Yes
Pub? Clearly. Rude not to, really
But a march for peace, no way
It is, after all, Armistice Day

MC, Your statement that "the pro-Palestine parades appear to escape that same accusation/ condemnation" is completely untrue...they are being slandered and smeared by at every turn...despite the fact that great numbers of Jewish people are attending those marches all over the world in ever increasing numbers.

Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday are separate yet
linked events that happen to come close together this year..
Is it really beyond expectation that those behind this proposed
pro-Palestine parade arrange it for another time. Respect is a
two-way process.
Your point about the NF presence on Remembrance Sunday is taken,
albeit it's reviled for its anti-Semitic stance whilst the pro-Palestine parades appear to escape that same accusation/ condemnation.
Thanks M.C., Uilleam, Greg and John for your comments (and the poem!).
I hear those arguments, M.C. but I can't accept them, not when the death toll includes 4000 children.
The point that I'm making is this: The Prime Minister and Home Secretary have made it clear that they think that a march for peace, demanding a ceasefire, that'll go nowhere near the Cenotaph, on the day BEFORE Remembrance Sunday should be stopped, while turning a blind eye to a far-right, racist, fascist, anti-Semitic organisation who parade at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday every year.
As for "peace protestors" call for a ceasefire, it can be argued that
this can enable Hamas and its disciples to seize the chance to
regroup and rearm within the society in which they manage to
enjoy support, outspoken or otherwise. A release of all hostages
seems the more PLAUSIBLE prelude to genuine peace now that
the barbarous attack on Israeli citizens has been answered in
such an unequivocal manner.
Thanks for the information about the NF and their reported
presence at the Cenotaph later on Remembrance Sunday. It
never seems to get any coverage in the MSM.
Very to the point Steve.
Greg - your line "Last time I looked, I was a 'snowflake'. Now I may be an 'extremist'. Wow ..." made me write this:
Time Was
Once I was a conscientious objector,
once I was a pacifist.
Once I was a protestor,
once I was an abolitionist.
Once I was a demonstrator,
once I was a militant.
Once I was an opposer,
once I was a dissident.
Once I was an activist,
once I was a picketer.
Once I was a nonconformist,
once I was a dissenter.
Now I’m a snowflake worrier,
an enemy within extremist.
No social justice warrior,
now I must be a conformist.

Judging by the snarled lips of the gammons on Gee Bee Bees “News”, on the New Vulture Forum and and elsewhere, the usual suspects are itching for a fight any time soon.
It ought not to be allowed; peace protestors calling for an Armistice - at this time of year too-how very dare they!😡
The NF march past the cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday every year a few hours after everyone else has gone home, and have done so since the 1960's, M.C.

(I'm not going to share a link from the NF's own YouTube channel, but you can watch last year's march for yourself if you're inclined to search for it).
Pithy and barbed..
Not sure about the lines "While the NF march/Past the Cenotaph". though
When was last time the NF was anywhere, let alone doing that?
As for "dissent". The boot appears to be on the other foot when concerned comment about things is laboriously labelled "far right".
Well said, Steve. Last time I looked, I was a 'snowflake'. Now I may be an 'extremist'. Wow ...

Thank you Steve.
Totally devoid of compassion, all they have left is hate.
While the NF march
Past the Cenotaph
says it all.
Remind us again, Homeless Secretary Cruella, who was that hate mob you let into Lancashire a couple of weeks ago.?
Methinks Michael Portillo's father would be turning in his grave!
Thanks Keith!
Steve,
The previous poem and this poem are clear indicators of one simple fact.
We are of one mind.
Keep writing.
Thanks
Keith

Correct Steve W.
“The march starts
Two miles past
The Cenotaph
And ends up even further away”
Inconvenient facts the hate-mongers and those itching for violent confrontation (Home Secretary included) “forget”.
