Strawberry Field

entry picture

I went to Strawberry Field, with my Sister and Niece.

Such a beautiful place, nothing but beauty and peace.

Beyond the gates, lots of gardens in which to wander.

Benches to relax on, to reflect to escape, to ponder.

Stones, dedicated to those who have sadly passed on.

Beautiful loving messages, carved into every single one.

Down a curved path, Bernadette and Lucinda took me.

My Mum's Strawberry Field stone, they took me to see.

In gold letters, five words written on Mum's stone of grey.

It lets our Mum know, she is loved and missed every day.

In such a place, it's so easy to forget the World outside.

So that's what I did, somewhere for my sadness to hide.

Marvel at the 'Imagine' Piano and the Forever Bandstand.

Take in the historic moments of this famous hidden land.

I love Strawberry Field, I love it's the site of Mum's stone.

Another unique and beautiful place, in my Liverpool home

Thank you very much for reading and the lovely comment. Yes, 'warmth' is something I aim for when writing, so thanks for saying that's what you see in my poems.

You write with such warmth, Mike. It's obvious that every word is genuine. This is a genuine poem.
