Born in Gaza
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell?
Blue skies from pain? Pink Floyd
In Gaza's ancient town, a tale unfolds,
A journey of love, as the prophecy foretold,
Yusuf, faithful and true, with Maryam by his side,
Embarked on a quest, filled with hope and pride.
To be registered they went, with hearts full of grace,
Maryam, carrying a child, love glowing on her face,
Amidst the wandering crowd, her time drew near,
For the miracle of birth, their hearts held dear.
In a humble stable, where animals gathered 'round,
A precious gift was given, in a silence so profound,
Maryam brought forth her firstborn son so mild,
Amid the bombs and the snipers, one little child.
No room anywhere, but a manger would do,
For the King of kings, was born to pursue,
Justice and redemption, a new beginning for all,
Amid bombs and bullets, their bodies are so small.
Oh, what a sight it was that holy night in 2023,
Angels singing in chorus, bathed in a heavenly light,
As Gazans knelt in awe before this newborn King,
Their hearts overflowing with the joy that he would bring.
So let us remember this miraculous tale,
Of this humble birth that caused the heavens to hail,
For through this child, our hearts will remain true,
A saviour born to guide us in all that we do.
