The Stalybridge Tornado

It snapped my flagpole like a twig
Our John told the news
And a tree fell on the conservatory
Spoiling all our views

A whirlwind, literally, Kerry said
We couldn’t open our front door
The lampposts were all swaying
I’d never seen that before

A tree came right through Maisie’s roof
Pulled down the bathroom ceiling
The Liberal Democrats demand
The PM calls a COBRA meeting

Chief Superintendent Dexter said
Some people have been displaced
We’ve told them not to go back home
If they really want to stay safe

When the warm air hits the cold air fast
It explodes just like a volcano
Thirty seconds of Gaza
It’s the Stalybridge tornado

Thanks U_scribe, I stuck as closely as I could to the witness statements given to the press.

I enjoyed the vividness of this just like a breaking news report. Succinct, to the point and punchy.

Thanks both of you for your continued support.

No injuries in any of the reports that I read. Well, not in Stalybridge at least.

I hope no one was hurt, Steve. It's clever how you lead the tale towards 'Thirty seconds of Gaza', which puts it all in perspective, to say the least. A good, well-rhymed poem.

Good rhyming , good humour and a finale which draws in another scene of destruction.
Thank for this,
Keith
