A Juxtaposition
A Juxtaposition
He sits on a river bank alone,
with easel, a canvass and paints.
His is painting an old stone bridge,
which has several arches.
The stone has a sandy colour,
illuminated by the summer's sun.
It has spanned the river for centuries,
clearly reflected in the water beneath.
With deep concentration he paints,
a traditional artist paying attention to detail.
A few miles away sits another man,
in a workshop with plans before him.
A scientist peering at an item of equipment,
a device newly created and designed.
It is a drone with an increased capacity,
A massive payload to inflict maximum damage.
A test flight has been planned,
as he studies the last final details.
It should do the trick he thinks,
an accurate strike with devastating effect.
A artist and a scientist at work,
in different environments.
Each with a purpose to express their skiills,
each hoping to bring about a desired result.
Both within a few miles of each other,
in a strange world where they both live.

Brilliantly crafted poem, Keith. I liked the last few particularly.
