In the Blink of an Eye
What can happen in the blink of an eye?
Our world could change, i don't deny
In only four tenths of a second
There is a lot that could be done
The squeeze of a trigger and a time to regret
A kiss from a loved one you’ll never forget
Mother nature can strike in that fateful blink
And the world around you can suddenly shrink
So many things can happen when your eyelid closes
Like a snapshot, life is caught in varying poses
It happens so incredibly fast, we don’t even think
What will happen this time when I blink
Did love just ignite in that flash of time
Or did something happen that was a crime
In that little movement of an eye
Did a baby release its first cry
Our lives are full of spontaneous events
Tiny little snippets of time without hints
Of what’s coming after the pause
Every effect began with a cause
But we are oblivious to the world during a blink
Oblivious to that tiny little microcosmic link
A blink that in a year averages about seven million
And with each one, something took place before it was done?

An excellent, rhythmic poem, Tim.
