Emptiness
Emptiness
The earth was without form and void,
a place of emptiness.
It has returned to its original form,
as lost souls we hurtle through space.
Out of darkness into light,
we have lapsed back into darkness.
Creation remains alive in the light,
but humanity dwells in darkness.
Our souls are empty vessels,
we are adrft in a tempestuous sea.
We have lost our way,
we believe in nothing.
Wisdom has been discarded,
our internal compass has been foresaken.
The conscience of man has no boundaries,
he runs in various directions.
There are no destinations,
only self destruction.
Wars, rumours of war and famines abound.
We live in a two dimensional world,
the spritual has been abandoned.
The road to perdition is a highway,
which leads to a darker place.
We are our own worst enemy.
We have foresaken God

Thank you to all who liked and commented on this poem. Graham, I take your point but if God has foresaken us, then who can blame him when as a human race we behave so badly. Desmond Tutu once said that despite all the turmoil in the world he took comfort that God was still there in the midst of it all.
Thank you again,
Keith
