Rising Sun

There is no tree that can resist

the kissing of the breeze,

nor violet hue of amethyst

some calming dream can't tease.

though in the night we drift apart

from where our bodies lay,

our journey's share each other’s heart

till dawning of new day.

I cannot know your dreaming

or follow where you go,

but like the trees I'm leaning

in the dreamscapes where you blow.

I'm windswept by your waking

our astral wanderings done,

another day is breaking

and you, my Rising Sun.

For those pondering the association between Amethyst and dreams, amethyst is supposed to assist with dream recall. One has to sign up to such notions for the idea to convince fully.

Yesterday was International Womens Day. I may be wrong but I didn't see any poems relating to it directly on WoL. I had written a poem for my partner recently and decided to give it to her yesterday. As I have been unable to formulate anything collectively fitting for Womankind on the day I thought I'd use this. An example of how my days are better and brighter with a good woman by my side. I'm not in the habit of applying too much sugar or writing of such things so please excuse any excesses which may induce involuntary vomit.

A tingling piece of writing, David. Wonderful that you can put your heart out there like this. Best wishes to you both.

Not overly sentimental at all, David. Which of us can say we were better without our woman? I’m sure she appreciated it, David. A lovely gift, (and cheaper than flowers!)

Thanks Ray, and thank you to Leon and Holden for the flowers.

I have written similar bits before but it's often too personal to share and sometimes feels strangely inappropriate. Some people are a little squeamish about love scribbles, I think I often am...but then sometimes it's sod it...hit the send button and be damned.

There is still a reluctance among many (men in particular) to express feelings of love, I believe we should probably do so more.

David.

A refreshing and lovely piece of writing David. Without a like mind to share our thoughts and dreams we are just wanderers.
Sick bags will not be provided.

Ray
