I Remember Joy

entry picture

I remember joy
It was a long time ago
When the sun  shone brightly
And you wore a halo glow
The flowers were in full bloom
And birdsong filled the air
Under an azure sky we laughed
In our world we didn't have a care

I awoke with you in the morning
Each and every glorious day
I could see the sparkle in your eyes
The look of love nothing more to say
I held your nakedness tenderly in my arms
You said that you loved loving me
And revealed all of your charms

When you left the house for work
I would watch through the window pane
You would look up and give a little wave
That kept me going all day until we met again
Then tragedy it came along
And filled my life with pain

I remember joy
It was a long time ago
When the sun  shone brightly
And you wore a halo glow
I remember joy like it was yesterday
Will it lift my spirits ever again
Or will I wait forever in melancholy vain
I remember joy

This gave me the same melancholy pleasure as the song 'I'll remember April". Thank you.

This is one of the best poems that I've recently read, Tom. "I remember joy, it was a long time ago," is itself such a great line to set up the poem with. So catchy and bitterly beautiful. Loved the audio and music too.
Thank you.
