SPRING CAFE

entry picture

This homage is to Spring Café

(On Mondays sadly closed all day);

I seldom ever fail to stop

To call in at the Charity Shop

A welcome waits both warm and safe

For Charity’s in the Christian faith;

Among the diverse things they sell

Of course there’s clothes and books as well.

But at the bottom tucked away

You’ll find this wonderful café

It’s been here for a fair few years

And run by lady volunteers

Always helpful with a smile

To brighten up your day a while

The menu has a fine array

With Specials changing every day

From all-day breakfasts, simple fayre

To Christmas Lunch fit for the Mayor

And cakes and tray-bakes all home-made

The quality is just top grade;

My favourite is Eggs Royale

On muffin, toast or soda farl

So if you feel a break you’re owed

While on the Wakefield-Barnsley Road

And find that you are passing by

Pop in – you’ll find it’s worth a try.

So raise a cheer “Hip, Hip, Hooray

For Spring Community Café”.

Thanks for the Like, RAP.
The ladies did enjoy it, Helene. I gave it to them framed and it’s going on the wall.
I got a freebie coffee out of it. Time was they might have thanked me differently!

I'm all in favour of this "take''
On ladies who serve tea and cake!

I want to go to Spring Café! Too bad I live in California. Delightful poem, John. I am a big fan of charity shops and cafes. Those volunteer ladies at Spring Cafe would probably get a kick out of this poem, where they feature as stars.
