burrow
one by one
‘tween finger and thumb
I pull each light from the sky
switch all systems to sound
engage rotors through burial mound
and it’s back through the tunnels I go...
the weeks from now
will run down to days
and one by one
I’ll erase all the ways that I’ve been
and not long from now
not even I will remember
the weave and wend of my paths
on and on just like this
all my time and history goes
blindly displacing the past
into the earth from which it arose

Thanks for the comment, David.
It does feel like I'm starting up my engines.
Again.
Every 4 to 7 years, my lifestyle seems to go through some sort of major overhaul. In ways, it's been good for my personal development; in other ways, very damaging. I've learned to gauge myself and others because I've had to become very observant. But, I've also learned to spare myself the drama of personal relationships.
Unlearning that skill might prove to be impossible...
Frankly, I'm exhausted. But then, I always say that as it becomes apparent that the time has come again to pack it all up--there really is good reason to keep the load light.
Where does it end?
I know the answer 🌷
