Mothers

In 1958, Bing Crosby sang “Thank Heaven for little Girls”

They grow up to be pretty girls and beautiful woman

They fall in love and get married

and they became the mothers of the world.

They give birth, they care, they feed, they raise their kids, teach them,

and love them no matter what

They sacrifice, cry, and laugh, never stop giving

We, on the other hand, grow older and never realise what they have done

Always want more, prepare to take it from the giving hand.

Never ask, what is her worth

Portraying obliviousness and ignorance of a child

They grow older and become Mothers of the Mothers

and Grandmothers of the Mothers’ mothers

They become the inspiration of children and grandchildren

They are the lifeline of life

Whether they are still around, or become the best memory of our lives

From all the billions of mothers around the world

They are one special mother that we can call

My Mother!!

This notable Lerner/Loewe song was made famous by Maurice Chevalier...L'homme Francais personnified. I especially enjoyed
his other solo song from "Gigi" - "I'm Glad I'm Not Young Anymore". So apt for this age we live in now.
