2024: Trev does another National Poetry Month in Texas and NaPoWriMo: Part 8 Edinburg to Austin
Image: Arriving at my motel early afternoon, it wasn't that bad, clean enough but prone to loud music at times from a nearby complex. Journey back went well small hold up for another vehicle, but good detour so no great worries.
25.04.24 – 131:99) Departure day both gladness and sadness
Gladness at what I’ve done, seen an’ where I’ve been
Memories abound of new friends found
As usual new ground broken, new poems spoken
Sadness trying not to cry as we say goodbye
Hugs all round before I’m Northward bound
Take it steady to the interstate then give the car some gun
Thinkin’ “Part 4 of the tour has just begun”
132:100) As usual I’m drivin away
Can’t help thinkin’ “wish I could go back in time”
An’ was going the other way
Border point no trouble at all, I just say
“Visitor from the UK” guard smiles an’ says “ok”
That’s it, once more I’m on my way
133:101) Steady run I’m expectin’ time for some reflectin’
Farewell meal was swell, went down well
Most of The Group their enjoyin’ Mexican Fayre
Chattin’ about the time I’ve had an’ they get thanks from a Yorkshire Lad
My spirits lift when Terry gives me a gift
A colorful shirt an’ to my delight it fits just right
I’m wished well for my journey hometown
With a wish to come back next year on another roan
134:102) Topped up the gas last night, the price just right
Then to Clark’s gotta say bye to Ivy an’ give give her a hug an’ stroke
From her favorite poetry bloke
Nianna couldn’t make the farewell meal but no fuss
We went out just the two of us
How great I thought, Her Most Gracious Majesty
An’ Her Most Loyal Prince Consort
Drive carries on, time to take a comfort break
Then back on the road an’ soon, I’m in Austin by early afternoon
Motel booking confirmed can’t get in till three
So to Jojo’s with my laundry
Have a chat, catch up on what’s been an’ seen
Then take stock an’ Look forward to Tablerock
135:103) It seemed my own advice wasn’t heeded
I put in more petrol that was needed
So let the evenin’ come alive I took Jojo for as drive
A scenic drive to places she’d never been or seen
Her enjoyment plain to see, pleased me
Took her home an’ as I drove away
I’m thinkin’ “Yup sure is a nice way to end the day”.
At the motel I’m feelin tired, can hear the wind blowin’ stronger
An’ can’t ignore the call of the bed no longer
