Rhythm Breaker

Our inconsistent

Pattern of rhythm

Often befuddled me,

Where had I gone wrong?

This was supposed

To be our song;

A song of happiness,

Of love, and of freedom

To dream of foreverness.

Am I just a pawn

In your chess?

I wonder when

Are you planning

To confess.

Your silence

Makes me restless,

I’ve frantically

Pictured my future self

Turning reckless,

Why don’t we

Consistently hit

The note?

Verses endangered,

Why do you ignore?

My heart’s fear

Is showing up

Concretely,

It aches, shivers,

Snivels and shrinks

As amidst the

Deafening cacophony,

It still hears your

Lingering symphony

That was composed along

With someone you

Hardly spoke about.

If I begin to ask,

It might as well

Be the last,

I would be lost

Somewhere in your

Past.

I’m afraid,

Someday I would be,

But I wouldn’t be

Standing aghast,

For I’ve tried my best

To clear the cloud,

It wasn’t in my control

That the rhythm-breaking

Thunderclap was

Too loud.

Manish, sometimes life/love is a bit like 'middle of the road' music, sometimes it's like a dreamy 'love theme' and at other its like 'bombastic heavy metal'.

We all have a favourite that hits the spot continually. Finding it is the hard bit!

A very finely described dilemma that you have written about well.

When the rhythm of harmony is altered, and syncopation confuses that natural pattern we're accustomed to, we are startled. Time to recalibrate.
Love the perspective of what patterns and changes in rhythm do to us. Well done my friend!
