as if asleep, I ventured

into a scrambled netherworld

a shabby wonderland where

confused, my worst dreams

play out their scenes,

nothing fits nor works,

strange names call out

like bartered slaves,

buy me! buy me!

poor hypnotised pallid faces

aimless, mindless, saunter

through a cut-priced treasure

trove of wanton miscellany

buy me! buy me!

take me home today it begs

and weakly bidden, all too

readily they do
