Fog Over Liverpool 14/11/24

entry picture

Thick fog hung over Liverpool today.

I hoped it decided to soon drift away.

Early morning I woke up, in Walton L4.

And Goodison Park was there no more!

Sir Doddy’s house, I couldn’t make out.

‘I think I’m lost’! I heard Dicky Mint shout!

So I was in Knotty Ash, that much I knew!

Then I went to The Pier Head, join me too!

I couldn’t see The Mersey, ebb and flow.

So I hoped the Ferry knew which way to go!

Bertie and Bella, I couldn’t see their faces.

Disappeared, had our magnificent 3 Graces!

St Luke’s has no roof, but it was hard to tell.

And St John’s Beacon had vanished as well!

From Central Library roof, a strange old view.

No St George’s Hall… no sign of Wirral too!

So many famous landmarks lost in the skies.

But some things the fog can never disguise!

It can’t hide that magical feeling in the air.

It’s that Liverpool feeling, its unique I swear!

(Bertie and Bella are the 2 Liver Birds in the picture, they are the guardians of our City!)

St George's Hall is a lovely buiding, and the art gallery, where we saw an exhibition of Mucha's work.
