No winter fuel payments this year,
A freezing future us pensioners fear.
As winter fuel plans unfold,
The shivering aged ,old and cold.
As the winter cold knocks on our door,
Our banks will not receive this saviour no more.
A plan deployed by our Chancellor Rachel Reeves,
A cold war plan wherby many a family grieves.
The choice between eating and heating we will have to make,
Reverse this death sentence on us pensioners, for God sake !!!
Seems like I’m the only person in the world prepared to forego their Winter Fuel Allowance.
UOC - I don't have any patience with that Tory lot on the
government front bench and in power until recently. They and their "Labour Party" opposition have become almost
indistinguishable in many ways. Both are imitation versions of
proper guardians of this nation state and the concerns of its
people. As for the law about migrants , there is something
profoundly amiss when it can be made a laughing stock and
reality is forced to take a back seat to fanciful folly and self-deceit. Even the Bible poses the question: Am I my brother's keeper?
As for the comment about members of the police service - they are under a
contract of service as public servants and their incomes/pensions agreed
accordingly. I am old enough to recall
when it took a full blown enquiry under
Sir Frank Soskice to push for improved financial security back in the 1960s.
There was no "looking after one's chums" under the likes of a certain
Tory hectoring home secretary/prime
minister much later when their numbers
were drastically reduced, rather than cossetted with cash.
Also MC, do those “well-paid union members” of which you speak include the 130,000 members of the Police Federation of England and Wales, and if so, will you be objecting to their future pay-rises?
MC, speaking of things ‘despicable’, the Tories, during their tenure, had neither A, the desire to ‘Stop the Boats’, B, to mend the asylum vetting system, or C, to provide safe routes.
It was in their interests, desperate as they were, to keep the xenophobic vote going.
Furthermore, the endless repetition of the accusatory term ‘illegal’, by the Thirty-Pee Lees of this world, and the motley assortment of muck-raking conspiracy theorists does not change the fact that asylum seekers are NOT ‘illegal’: I suggest you read up on the law as it applies to Asylum-seekers / Refugees.
And if, as you say, essential services, including the NHS, are at breaking point, that's disaster capitalism at its finest; the Tories had 14 years to redress the situation.
One of the more distasteful aspects is how the media jump aboard the "wealthy pensioners" bandwagon to defend this
greedy takeaway by a political mindset that is only too ready
to put money into the pockets of its already well paid union
members and offer increased hotel accommodation to be paid for
by the ignored British/English taxpayer here in England on behalf
of illegal incursions into an already overpopulated land with
essential services at breaking point. Did I say distasteful? Upgrade that to "despicable"!
No eligibility letter to me as yet,
Saying how much of a payment I will get.
Living alone my home costs a lot to heat,
Deprived of the allowance,I’ll miss the treat.
Rachel Reeves’ house will be nice and warm,
Pensioner votes in the next election,to the Tories will swarm.

Stop having babies, they say to poor families, but a raft of kids they can't remember fathering's ok for the serial adulterers and wife-beaters in government!
Stop living so long 'cos you're putting a strain on the NHS.
Stop wasting heat by cooking food you can't afford, and put another pensioner on the fire.
