Shards
Look through the glass
The other side , a thin membrane away
I can see but not hear
What if I break it to reach out to the silent world beyond
Push my hand through
Will it be freedom
Or blood soaked shards that rain down
Shredding the flesh and mind
Scattering mortal remains
On a cold floor
Perhaps I can hold your hand
Together we can leap
With your protection
That surrounds me with armour and shields
We can leap through fire to pastures beyond
To cool water meadows
Lie in peace in lovers arms
A snatched minute or a life of peace
Leave behind the blackness
Stare at the light
Blinding in its purity
Breathe in the mist that washes the shores
Sense the mountains of pine and larch
Gasp the crisp air of snowy peaks
Or drift in the warm suns arms of green
Face buried in the sweet hay of summer.
