Man With the Big Set of Keys.

Man With the Big Set of Keys.

The boy is in the corner playing on his own again.

He has had another fight with some of his friends.

For him, it is punishment time for the rest of the day.

Sat in the corner he happily passes the time away.

In comes the man in charge with a big set of keys.

Tells the boy to you must come and sit next to me.

He says you have to stop being such a naughty boy.

You just make everyone else angry and annoyed.

He held his hand and said i just want to help you.

Do me a favour, i have something i want you to do.

He stood up and dropped his trousers to the floor.

He said don't be scared, boys have done it before.

The boy said you’re crazy what you want me to do.

You’re a sick bastard what is fucking wrong with you.

The Boy was angry, I will kill you now if you don’t stop

Then take your sick head leave me alone and fuck off.

The man did not like what the boy was saying to him.

And decided then he needed a little bit more punishing.

He did his trousers up and took the boy to see the head.

This only filled the boy with even more fear and dread.

He knew the head would not believe a word he said.

The head was angry and to the boy the riot act was read.

The boy told the head what the man had said and done.

The head said, you always make up stories on everyone.

The man told the head the boy attacked him and called him

all sorts of offensive names.

The boy expected this, they were friends its always the same.

Bend over boy, they laughed and out came a four-foot cane.

Took it in turns to cane him, now he was crying once again.

The boy told himself it was ok to receive the four-foot cane.

It was better than being touched by the sick bastard again

He went back to the room, to playing in the corner alone.

Relieved at this time he escaped, but with a very sore bum.

I applaud you for putting your head above the parapet. You may never know the power of your words. They will reach someone who has felt alone and unjustifiably ashamed for their entire lives, perhaps giving them the courage to speak out. For me, this is what poetry is all about - breaking down barriers to reveal the truth. Thank you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I grew up in care in the 60`s and 70`s, and i use the word care very loosely. A lot of my poetry comes from that time, they are about real experiences that i ( in multiple Children`s homes) and many other children had to go through in that period of time. They are the reason i starting writing poems, trying to process what and why things were happening. I know it is not a nice subject ( abuse), but for thousands it was and still is a reality.
