a flower you know
we watch as you unfold
mind’s thoughts climb
as you grow
through truths and lies
adults hold
with time you realized
the nuances passed by
that branch in the road
you decided to hold
that beauty in the heart
almost impossible in the dark
that belief naive yet strong
that kindness and truth
had a weight
after all

Kindness and truth are in an increasingly precarious position in a day and age in which it's so easy to spread hate and lies.
