FADING INTO THE NEW YEAR
A battle of loneliness, trapped in isolation
Heart shudders in fear, bowing to the cold.
The old year passes, fading into the new
Misgivings, demons, decay taking hold.
Eating disorders, bony hands
A forceful wind knocks breath from the land
On lazy winter afternoons...
Sweep, sweep away
Bow in prayer inside a four walled city.
Cries and shouts, desperation calls
In hopes of catching fire, seeking attention
A kiss to the ancestors,
Tears of a soul in suspension,
Clinging to dimming lights.
A balloon pops, another bursts
The effect—a hurricane, reaching the earth's ends.
Yet the universe turns, blind to this bleeding heart
A body dying, alone with no friends.
In the silence, the weight grows heavy
A heart once whole, now split in two.
Chasing shadows in the dark,
The soul searches for a spark.
But no flame, no hand to hold
Just an empty room, an endless cold.
Yet the wind still whispers,
A faint call in the air—
A plea for rescue,
A cry for someone to care.
