tears you could have cried

entry picture

Picking up the internal slack,
invoking an inward tension
that emboldens one to face the day
and the prospects of oncoming ones.
Wet cheeks reveal visible cues,
flipping calendars, leaf upon leaf:
          . . . existing surrenders,
like a sparkled after-rain,
bringing a moist crystalline relief
               that fills the cracks
and mends the broken places.

Hello Red Brick,

Your words resonate deeply with me. The way you’ve captured the internal struggle of picking up the pieces and finding strength to move forward is both profound and relatable. The imagery of "wet cheeks" and "flipping calendars" speaks volumes about the passage of time and the quiet resilience that comes with it.

I especially love the line "like a sparkled after-rain, bringing a moist crystalline relief that fills the cracks and mends the broken places." It’s such a beautiful metaphor for healing and renewal, offering hope amidst vulnerability. Thank you for putting these feelings into words so gracefully—your lines feel like a balm for the soul.

Looking forward to reading more of your work!
