Puppets of Greed
This poem critiques a presidency shaped by selfishness, revenge, and the influence of tech billionaires like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos et al. Rather than adhering to constitutional values, Trump’s cabinet is filled not only with power-hungry opportunists and morons seeking their own gain, but also with those who are completely devoted to him—almost god-like in their loyalty. These individuals, driven by their personal interests, enable the dominance of Silicon Valley giants who shape everyday American life, controlling the media, technology, and much more. The poem tries to capture the destructive impact of such unchecked power, while still maintaining hope for a future where justice prevails and where such power structures are hopefully doomed to failure.
A president, consumed by thirst for spite,
chooses not the wise, but those who fight
for power, wealth, and endless fame—
men who refuse to serve the people's claim.
His choices show no hint of skill,
but hunger for control, a stronger will.
The billionaires, from Silicon's reign,
direct his course for their own gain.
They spread division, and they fan the flame,
not to protect, but to stake their claim.
A leader who ignores the people's plea
becomes a pawn, a tool to be.
They bow to him, as servants bow to kings,
to do his bidding, as his power springs.
Their loyalty blinds them, devotion runs deep,
for Trump is the idol they vow to keep.
But arrogance will soon unwind,
for greed and hate are blind, unkind.
His walls of lies will crack and fall,
when truth exposes all his gall.
A people, which was long betrayed and torn,
will rise again, its strength reborn.
No power can keep justice down—
the truth will rise, and claim the crown.

Flyntland,
Thank you for your insightful response. I understand the dread you feel—it’s hard to ignore the miserable actions Trump has advocated for, like with the death penalty. My optimism in the poem isn’t meant to erase that fear, but to hold onto some hope, despite the reality of his looming return to power. Your thoughts really made me reflect more deeply on the complexities of what I’m trying to express.
Take care,
Rolph
