Ignore Me

entry picture

Ask me how I am feeling
Man I am really reeling
Look at me what do you see
Just a man wanting sanctuary
Why don't you engage me
Lift me up and set me free

Ignore me okay
I just want to have my say
Ignore me that's alright
I won't give up without a fight
Ignore me that's just fine
Justice one day will be mine
Ignore me

Time is a great healer they say
I just get by day by day
As I look up at an angry sky
Tears of pouring rain I cry
Around this forbidden planet I roam
I guess I will always be alone

Ignore me that's cool
Take me for a fool
Ignore me all day
I am not going away
Ignore me forever
I will get my shit together
Ignore me

When all is said and done
I am but only one
But I have a heart and soul
And I will reach my goal
The war within me rages on
You will miss me when I am gone

Ignore me at your peril
You will meet with the devil
Ignore me that's so bad
I am going to get real mad
Ignore me that's what you do
I'm not going to get down and blue
Ignore me

Tom,
Your poem is raw and powerful, brimming with defiance and vulnerability. The repeated refrain of “Ignore me” feels like a battle cry—a mix of pain, frustration, and determination. It captures the paradox of wanting to be left alone but also desperately wanting to be seen, understood, and acknowledged.
I was struck by the imagery of “tears of pouring rain” and roaming a “forbidden planet”—it paints such a vivid picture of isolation and inner struggle. Yet, through all the anguish, there’s a fierce sense of resilience: “I will get my shit together” and “I will reach my goal.” It’s like a fire that refuses to be extinguished, no matter how strong the storm.
Your closing lines, especially “You will miss me when I am gone,” hit hard, serving as both a warning and a poignant reminder of the human need to be valued before it’s too late. This is a bold, heartfelt piece that leaves a lasting impression.
Great job!

Take care,
Rolph
