A queue

A QUEUE

I’m standing on a queue

Like everyone around me,

Waiting for end;

As it

Moves.

Strangers at first, but now;

Bound by the line

Waiting for end;

Slowly it

Moved.

Fate, universe, free will & choices;

All those fancy words,

Now together to

Finish line

(we) go.

Reason, meanings,duty and focus;

Changed my own world,

As I changed

My neighbour’s

Journey.

Years,months,weeks and days;

Sometimes line moved faster,

Sometimes slow & stagnant

Unlike my

Heart.

Favours,errands,reach-out and gestures;

Together it brought us,

But Cruel time

Still points

End.

Imagined, planned, simulated and ironed;

For the finish line,

Some happy for,

While some

Weep.

Hopes, dreams,ambitions and aspirations;

With which we entered,

Slowly crunching way

Towards them

Ultimately.

Start of the line-cloudy;

Journey’s end still foggy,

Tending to fallen

As it

Goes.

Left behind,helpless,worthless & despair;

Surround many in ways,

Some rose above,

While others

stopped.

Hope it never ends or

Hope it ends tomorrow,

Different thoughts among

People of

Line

But ultimately it does end,

Leading to another one,

Then to another,

Till there’s

None.

Efforts,perseverance,hopes and ideas;

Ends with the line,

What’s the end

For jealousy

& hatred.

Unknown faces become new family;

Moving and fooling around,

At the end

Of line;

Strangers?

Painful,embarrassment,mistakes and intrusive;

Memories and actions across,

Far etched in

This mind-of-mine

Forever.

Happy,honor,achievements and excitement;

Slowly fading as vapours,

Through my finger

Nails;as

Mirage.

Inching towards the finishing line;

Partying and part-ing away,

To justify duties

Into new

Queues.

Once upon a time, I

Stranded on a queue;

Learned life and

Went along

To-end.

GRD,
Your poem is profound and thought-provoking, weaving the journey of life into the metaphor of a queue. The repetition of waiting, moving, and ultimately reaching an end captures the bittersweet passage of time so vividly. I love how you explore the emotions—hope, despair, connection, and loss—that arise along the way, creating a sense of shared humanity in this universal experience.
The way you balance philosophical depth with tangible imagery, like helping a neighbour or memories fading like vapours, is incredibly moving.
The closing lines leave a lasting impression, reminding us of the lessons and transient beauty found even as we approach the inevitable.

A stunning piece—thank you for sharing it.

Take care,
Rolph
