Growth Agenda

Let bulldozers rip,

Get spades in the ground,

Turn on the taps

In city and town.

Rules on the bonfire,

Planes in the air,

Bricked-up banality,

The fun of the fair.

And, all of a sudden,

The climate’s nowhere.

Thank you, Trevor. I think you have summed it up perfectly. The Ostrich option only takes you so far, in fact to nowhere.

Yes, I think the new environmental plan is the ostrich option. All those elderly leaders whose thought process seems to be, 'well it may all go to rat shit, but I won't be here by then!'

Thank you, Graham. Yes, the perverse consequences of the melting of the polar ice caps pushing the Gulf Stream south. The UK could, as you say, be caught in no-man's-land.
Thanks, Flyntland. It was intended to hint at a lack of global leadership, particularly in the US, which now seems to be without adult supervision for at least the next four years. Despite Brexit, It seems to me very important for the UK to work with the EU and not get sucked into the US deepfake orbit.

This compact little poem screams to me of insecurity - no global leadership - this is possibly not what you intended but it also brings me back to Brexit.
We are such a small island that whatever we do on our own can have little impact on global warming. Since Brexit, whatever we do politically will offend someone to the point of us having to accept deals on terms that we do not want to agree to. That's what happens when we have to live without friends.
All roads seem to lead to Brexit and the mistake of voting without thinking through the consequences.

I read that the UK may get colder due to climate change!! Nobody speaks of global warming anymore 🤔
