Unyielding Heroes
Today, three years ago, Russia launched its brutal invasion of Ukraine, shattering peace and unleashing a wave of destruction. Towns were leveled, lives torn apart, and a nation thrust into an endless struggle for survival. Despite the relentless violence, Ukraine remains unyielding, its people refusing to surrender. The world has watched as the cost in blood and suffering continues to rise, and yet, the war drags on. This anniversary marks not only the pain of the past, but the ongoing fight for freedom and dignity.
The fields lie scorched, the rivers black,
where rockets carved their burning trail.
The homes stand shattered, charred and cracked,
a land once bright, now gaunt and pale.
A mother kneels in dust and stone,
her child beneath, so cold, so still.
She speaks his name, but all alone,
she finds no voice—the air is chill.
The tyrant claims his war is just,
with hollow words, he spreads decay.
He slaughters millions out of lust,
then dares to look the world and say—
"No war exists, no crimes, no dead,
just men who march where duty calls."
Yet ghosts rise up where soldiers tread,
their names engraved on crumbling walls.
No deal struck in a foreign hall,
no whispered trade, no hand that signs,
can buy the blood, the loss, the call
of those still fighting battle lines.
For every home they burn to ash,
for every life they take away,
a thousand rise, their spirits flash,
unyielding, they will never sway.

Rolph, as usual, a brilliant piece of writing. Correct me if I am wrong, but it comes as no surprise to me that so many other countries are continuing to donate arms to Ukraine
is that, I wonder, to save themselves from being physically involved and just let Ukraine keep Putin off their doorsteps while they sit idly by?
However, if Putin does cross the red line into the Nato countries, then I think it will definitely be goodnight Vienna for Russia big time and unfortunately millions of innocent Russians too.
Thank you.
kind regards
Tom.
