Pondering the Solar term

( for what it is worth, a little thank you/ dedication to Rolph for kindly services rendered )

Globular fiery countenance,

the retaining of its secret longevity, towards self demise,

remains questionable

Will its Earth-reaching golden tentacles.

be retracting sooner than we are anticipating?

A hovering threat, hanging over the Earths populating heads,

as to when will it die, and leave our planet

doused in a total victory for darkness?

Leaving us, having to adapt to a never ending shadow blanketed existence

or sit, helplessly, choicelessly, in our acceptance

of the countdown, to finality.

Not a pleasant prospect, Tom, but a good, probing poem.
