Freelance Story Group Leader - North West

Tell Us Another One is a community writing project involving diverse communities in Rochdale, Bury and Oldham. The project offers people from low income neighbourhoods, most of whom have never written before, the opportunity to see their work in print, online and to read it live.  The project celebrates diversity and promotes cohesion within and between communities through our quarterly magazine, a fascinating and eclectic variety of creative projects, vibrant celebratory events,  and exciting new initiatives, such as the annual Scribble festival.

We are looking for an experienced writer to lead up to four monthly story groups in the Rochdale, Bury and Oldham areas.  It is anticipated the story groups will be made up mostly of women.

You need to be:

o                   experienced in leading creative writing sessions (and ideally spoken word sessions)

o                   Fluent in Urdu and / or Bangla

o                   Able to commit to up to four sessions a month at regular, dedicated slots (e.g. Tues afternoons once a month)

o                   Organised with good administration skills (taking registers, completing monitoring forms, submitting content for a quarterly magazine etc)

o                   Computer literate

o                   Self-employed – a tax number will be required

The contract will run from 22nd Nov 2010 to 22nd May 2013 at a fee of £90 per session including travel.

This contract is subject to a CRB clearance.  We will be carrying out a CRB check once freelancer(s) have been selected.
