Belonging?
Adoption Matters Northwest
Poetry Competition 2010
What does belonging mean to you?
One in four people in the UK will have a personal connection with adoption. Does that surprise you?
They may be adopted. They may be adoptive parents. They may be birth parents whose children have been placed for adoption, or the close families of those who have been directly involved.
Adoption Matter Northwest is once again running its annual poetry competition across Cheshire and North East Wales, Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire to get people thinking about the issues surrounding adoption.
Getting involved couldn’t be easier! Simply write and submit a poem on this year’s theme of ‘Belonging’. It can be in any style and any format.
Entries will be judged in two age groups – 16s and under, and Over 16s - by a panel of established poets. Finalists from each county will be invited to a VIP poetry event in Manchester in November, where the winners’ poems will be announced and prizes awarded.
The closing date for the competition is 5 November 2010. Previously published poems cannot be accepted. Entries must be clearly marked with the writer’s name and contact details, together with confirmation that you agree to have your name, photo and poem published if selected.
Simply email your entries to adoption@dewinterpr.co.uk or post to:
