String That Binds Us

Life is taken for granted,
and dreams are thought
to be free.

When you are young,
the world is at your feet,
but when you become older,
the world is the weight
bearing down upon your shoulders.

Life is a struggle
but still taken for granted.

Change will come
to steal away that belief,
and dreams are no longer free.

But we still
struggle to dream.

We still struggle to live
in hopes of finding
that one day,
where struggle ends
and we are set free.

Hi Melissa, I really like this. I've written a few based on personal experience. If you haven't seen it look at blog for April 'Just believe', and I've got a few more to put on. Like this though very true and sincere, Jeff x

I think life is always a struggle, maybe poetry sometimes can be the thing that sets us free. A very interesting poem, thank you.

A lot of truth in your words Melissa, a lot of which i, for one can identify with.
Strangely enough though, recently i feel like i have been "set free" from certain struggles. It really is quite amazing what time off work can do for ones belief in self comfort. A zone which has eluded me for quite some time.
Funny thing, string.. it reminds me of my intestines, which fortunately has no knots and and are looking very healthy to my inner vision.
Thanks for this write. Very thought provoking.x
