Celebr8 Festival 2008
Celebr8 on the Silver Screen is a NW regional writing competition which asks entrants to submit an idea based on, ‘What diversity means to me’. It is part of the celebr8 (don't discrimin8) festival of diversity which will highlight the cultural, social and economic benefits diversity brings to the North West

Five entries will be chosen and be developed into short films. These will then be shown at a regional film premiere in September 2008.
The deadline for entries is 23rd July 2008.

with Julie McKiernan joint winner of the Cumbrian Playwriting Competition 2004 with ‘Tramping like Mad'.
You will look at developing themes and characters, breaking down stereotypes, unexpected details and multiple identities. You will write exercises on tension, action and where a script could begin. A professional actor will be on hand to read extracts from your work and give feedback.

With Dinesh Allirajah: short story writer, jazz poet and creative writing tutor, who has been a respected figure on the Liverpool literature scene since the late 1980s.
And Terry Caffrey award winning performance poet extraordinaire.
You will experience a multi-sensory workshop which will help you to develop both characters and script.
This workshop programme has been developed with Stockport’s cultural partner Words 09 and their festival team and provides a platform for the launch of Stockport’s very own writer’s festival later in 2008, “Write On”
The programme will develop throughout 2008 at Stockport Art Gallery. There will be a strong focus on Working in the Creative Industries and opportunities to meet industry experts and film makers.
