gazelle ghazal
Quiet as a hart in the forest
She’s tiptoeing, his tame gazelle
With caribou songs she serenades -
Are his ears deaf to his tame gazelle?
He looks about, antlers challenging
An elk blinded by his tame gazelle
With springbok start, did he notice?
She’s whispering, his tame gazelle
The antelope are all stampeding
Yet she stands stock still, his tame gazelle
Living in Eland - she surely does?
He’s missed the path to his tame gazelle
He is a great moose without a soul!
She, invisible, his tame gazelle
A woodland meeting, a clash of horns
A side-step dance with his tame gazelle
Stepping on delicate cloven hooves
He tramples her down, his tame gazelle
Split second timing, she’s up again
Quicker than him, his tame gazelle
Sparks fly in cascade as she escapes
Free, joyous - no more his tame gazelle

This is a great piece Ann. One meaning of 'Ghazal' is the dying cries of the gazelle as you may well know so that ties things together nicely. Clever to how you have incorporated the different words for this type of animal in the first line of 6 shers, maybe they could be placed more evenly in the ghazal? liked. Win x
